s: Today we are going to study comparing. First we will learn about Venn Diagrams.
(One student raises her hand).
1t: What is a Venn Diagram?
w: Good question. A Venn Diagram is like a way of comparing that's a chart.
1t: I knew that, but what IS it?
3 g t : I'll show you. (She draws a Venn Diagram on the board and starts to fill it in).
t b : It's about talking babies!
3 g t: Not only about talking babies. About the regular kind, too.
t b: That doesn't matter. Those kinds are both babies.
1t: Are we talking about matter? I love talking about matter!
s: No, we are not. We are talking about comparing.
( One student raises her hand. Third grade teacher points to her.)
3 g t : Thank you for raising your hand so nicely. What do you have to say?
(Bell rings.)
w: It's time for us to go. But before we do, I have a question for all of you. What would you like to learn about when we come back next week?
t : Matter!
3 g t : Goodbye! See you next week!
(When the door closes, the 3rd grade teacher turns to the students.)
3 g t: Time to get back to the writing test!
